We would be happy to help you if you would provided a bit more information about what exactly you would like to do and with what hardware.

I am Developing CANOpen Enabled Encoder i.e., i have to send the information like degree, number of rotations & the direction on the CAN bus. The Application Layer Software is CANOpen. I have got the CANopen Stack Software. I am developing the Slave Software. The Interface between the Encoder IC & the microcontroller is SSI Interface. I have written the routine which calculates all the three parameters i.e., degree, number of rotations & the direction. I Have to choose the parameters from Device Profile 406 to make the Object Dictionary. I have read the DS406 file but there are two things in that.
1) Operating Parameters.
2) Operating Status.
I am unable to make out the difference between the two. I want to know whether the Master sends the Operating Parameters or Slave Software should calculate that.
One more question, what is Preset Value?

I found this Manual for the DS406 It makes reference to a few different "operating parameters" in section 3.3 and outlines them well. I did not find "operating status" mentioned anywhere, so I can only assume it is the status of the operating parameters. As for the preset value, this is all I found in the manual:11.4. Encoder Profile DS 406 (Tables)
Index Subindex Name Type Attribute Defaultvalue Meaning

6003 0 Preset value UI32 rw 0 Set nullpoint (User Offset)But I am not very familiar with the DS406. This is a forum for National Instruments CAN devices and software, so this community is much better at answering questions relating to those products and the related CAN functions and less about other devices functionality of 3rd party devices. Sorry I can't be of more help.Message Edited by MXI Master on 05-06-2008 01:26 PM
